Joe Szot sent me a couple of great tutorials for those of you that would like to better understand the setting up of your cars for a race.

One is put out by Joel Brown and the other by Dan Novak.

They are both in the Download section under Stockcar Evloution Misc.

Follow the instructions to download and enjoy! Laughing

I know this was posted with good intent, but be careful about what you read here. There are two download files, both have some conflicting information within them. Here is one example:

#1
Panhard (Track) Bar: Higher on right than left tightens on exit. Also refered to as Panhard bar rake.

#2
Track Bar
Raising the right side of the bar loosens the car under acceleration, and tightens the chassis under braking.
Lowering the right side of the bar tightens the car under acceleration, and loosens the chassis while braking.

Now, this depends on where the author thought the panhard or track bar is attached to the rear end housing and the chassis. If the track bar is attached to the rear end housing on the left and the chassis on the right, this is what should happen.

If the track bar is higher on the right side than the left side, it will loosen the car on entry and exit. The reason for this is because as the car goes into the corner, the chassis is trying to pull away from the rear end housing because of lateral force . The force is pulling on the bar. Since the bar is mounted higher on the right than the left, the forces acting (pulling) on the bar will try to pick upward, or straighten out the bar and unload the left rear. Which will loosen up the car.

If the bar is lower on the right than the left, as the car goes into the corner, the forces submitted will try to pull downward on the track bar on that end of the rear end housing which is the left, which will tighten the car.

Now, you can also take this one step farther. Since the force of the chassis is always trying to pull away or to the outside of the car in a corner, but since there is the track bar holding / resisting this force, is the force then transmitted or loaded over to the right rear spring / tire??

See you at Atlanta...................LOL!

Thanks for catching and explaining that Steve. It's input from quality drivers like you that make this league as good as it is.
